Extended Day Care

This program is equipped and staffed to care for Pre-Kindergarten through 3rd Grade students. Extended Care is available ONLY on a full-time or regularly scheduled part-time basis per MCBOE policy as noted in the Tutition Fee schedule below. DROP IN SERVICE ON NON-SCHEDULED DAYS IS NOT AVAILABLE. 

Students will be received immediately following dismissal and are to be picked up no later than 5:45pm. Failure to pick your children by 5:45pm will result in a per-child fine of $1 for every minute late. Excessive late pick-up can result in termination of services. 

The program follows the calendar of the Madison County School System. If schools are closed due to holidays or inclement weather, no Extended Day services are offered and no fees will be charged. In the event of early dismissal, all extended day students will be taken to the car rider link for pick-up. 

You will be notified immediately if your child becomes seriously ill or is seriously injured while attending our program. Arrangements should be made to pick up the child as soon as possible. Contact the Extended Day office at 256-851-4663 or Mrs. Willis at awillis@mcssk12.org or Coach Dodd at ericadodd@mcssk12.org if any changes to your child's information need to be made. Students may not leave school premises until they have been released to a responsible adult. Your child will be released only to those authorized on your child's registration form. 

All payments for the week are due on Monday of the current week in accordance with MCBOE policy. If your child does not attend on Monday payment will be due their first scheduled day. Students who are not paid in full by Tuesday at pick up will not be allowed to return to After School Care on Wednesday unless full payment due ( tuition plus $5 late fee) is received by noon. You will be given notice on Tuesday if your account is past due.

AFter School Care will have a Discipline Record for students who commit a major offense.

The following are expectations for all students who attend after school care:

- The student must be able to conduct him/herself safely and appropriately in a group setting.

- The student must be able to interact with peers in a socially appropriate manner. 

- The student should not be a danger to themselves or others.

- The student should not disrupt normal activities, making it unreasonably difficult for other students to enjoy their time. 

- The student does not engage in repetitively aggressive, harmful, or disruptive behavior.

Consequences for students who commit a major offense:

1st violation- conference with student, parent contact, assigned seat or spot

2nd violation- removal from after school program for up to 5 days

3rd violation- removal from after school program for up to 10 days

4th violation- removal from after school program for up to 20 days (or remainder of semester)
